Little Cottonwood Canyon

I went out with someone last night, and we went up to Little Cottonwood Canyon, and my holy goodness. If that isn't one of the most beautiful places in Utah, I don't know what is. It was dark, since we got there around 10 at night, but it was still completely breathtaking!! If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you go up there!

What makes you happy?

For some reason, my bosses like to pay me for not working, which is QUITE alright with me. Today this came to my head when I was listening to some music. I'm not really sure what to do with it.. Maybe I'll buy a bigger book and start another altered book about things that make me happy on a daily basis..? Any other ideas?

I go all my life without listening to them, until this past week. Now I can't get enough! I can't believe I've deprived myself of this beauty. (I put one of their songs on here for your benefit!)

MY WEDDING COLORS!

No, I'm not getting married, and I'm no where close to being engaged, but I DID just find the colors that I want my wedding to be! Thanks to Lindsey working for American Crafts and having me look at their blog, I found this!!





Is that not gorgeous, or what?! I really really love the patterns too! So, when that day comes, make sure you pick some cute wrapping paper for my presents, so everything's perfect and matching! (:

Also, quick update on my Midterm: I finished the test within 7 minutes, (shorter than that even, I think) and I did in fact get to leave right when I was done! Can't complain about a 10 minute class!! I also tried being creative last night.. Turned out terribly wrong! I used Dove chocolate wrappers and put them all over a page, (with all the cute sayings on them) and it was HIDEOUS! So I went to bed early, disappointed in myself. Seven Peaks today should make me feel better though! Plus, I'm going to Moab tomorrow with some friends.. Hopefully it's fun!! (Maybe I'll get someone to fix my camera really fast today so I can take it this weekend!)

I'm in the mood

to be creative again (: I've had a long weekend of NO creativity and studying like a mad woman, so I deserve it, right? Oh wait.. I have to take my midterm today. Hopefully I can take it and leave and not have to be there the whole two and a half hours.. If that's the case.. Maybe I'll postpone my creative-ness. But I already know every question that's going to be on the midterm (thank goodness I have an awesome teacher) and I know all the answers too! (thanks to my awesome teacher, haha) Linds and I are finally going to use our Seven Peaks passes tomorrow after work! PRAY that it stays nice so we'll get tan!! [We all know Lindsey needs it (; ] Kidding, Linds. Anyways, I've been at work too long, it's time to leave! Have a good Wednesday!

This won't be long..

But I'm extremely proud of myself!! We had a get-together with some friends today for Memorial Day.. Activities including: BBQ, slack lining, kickball.. and fun!! And it really was such a fun day, but the thing I'm most proud of, is that I TOOK 11 STEPS ON THE SLACK LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's almost all the way across! I couldn't believe it!!!

Plus, I've been hanging out with a pretty cool kid (:


Here are two pictures from the other day when Reece and I went to the mountains? and had tin foil dinners, and played with charcoal!! We found out they draw pretty well on faces and cement!




Anyways, I'm off to bed to get some sleep for what I know will be a stressful day tomorrow :/

Wonderful Weekends (:

For some reason this past week, my body decided to be extremely dumb and get SUPER SICK! Fortunately, I was feeling a little better on Saturday, enough to go to MAE!! It was AMAZING!! There were 4 bands that played before them, Tokyo, Larusso, Barcelona and PersonL(didn't really like them) AND THEN IT WAS TIME! I can't even tell you how excited I was to actually be seeing them in person. They are amazing! We ended up getting these really cool looking shirts, Mae's EP and Barcelona's cd. (Barcelona is from Seattle!! Wooo hoo! Go Washington!) While we were waiting in line, we got fliers for upcoming concerts, and one that stuck out to me was LYDIA. You can go to their website and listen to some of their music, but they're playing on June 6th and I'm going!! I'm extremely excited for that! ALSO, my new friends down in Provo living at Carraige Cove told me about the Relient K concert that is on June 4th that I just bought a ticket for last night! Out of the 18 years of my life, I'd been to two concerts: Nsync in 4th grade, and Kenny Chesney/Rascal Flatts.. a few years ago. Now within one month I'm going to 3 new ones?!? I'm definitely living the life! AND I LOVE IT! Plus, tickets are pretty cheap too (: $10?! Can't say no to that!

Anyways, here's a couple pictures, one when we were waiting in line to get into the theater, and the other is with our 3D glasses on for the last couple of songs that Mae did with a 3D image thing on the screen behind them. Did I mention that Mae was FREAKING AMAZING?! I'll be there in a heartbeat next time they come to Utah!

I love being creative now that I can actually do something about it! Going home in an hour or so and I'm going to start a couple pages in my altered book. I CAN'T WAIT!! I'll post pictures of the finished products, SO STAY TUNED!! (:

I HAVE TO SUCK ON HALLS?! I really don't understand how I got sick so fast! I was at work on Tuesday, happy as a clam, but when 12:00 in the afternoon rolled around, suddenly I had the worst sore throat and I could barley even breathe! It literally came on that fast. So as the days carry on, I continue to suffer.. "Sexy voice" as my Mom and Kevin told me last night (which sounds like a man.. if you didn't catch on to that), extremely bad throat hurting, and I swear I blow my nose every 10 minutes. Not to mention how hard it is to breathe when I'm trying to sleep. And I cough ALL DAY LONG!! Goodness gracious.. Poor me. Haha, but life's good! Hoskins comes home tomorrow! That's weird.. we'll see how that goes. And on Saturday is the Mae concert!*&#@$@*&!@*! They are amazing, and I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM LIVE!!!!!!!!!!! I'm also wearing a bed time shirt to work (; Shh.. don't tell!

TODAY'S MY FRIDAY!!

Here's just a quick update, since I haven't blogged in a couple of days..

Not much has been going on, but school starts TODAY!!!! I'll be there from 6-8:30pm, so wish me luck! I never went to look at where my class is located.. :/ haha, we'll just have to hope I find it!! Then I'm coming home to finish a project or two, pack a little bit, and then hot tub party with my girls!! Thursday I'll definitely be sleeping in, finishing my packing, then off to the AIRPORT AROUND 1!!! I can't wait to finally be in Washington!! We have QUITE a few plans already!! And MAJOR scrapbooking plans!! I can't wait!!

Woah.. it's 2009 already?!?!!

First of all, can I just point out how dang cute my blog is?! I know, I've changed it MANY MANY times.. but I just didn't LOVE them.. we didn't connect.. yanno? But this one.. Oh, it was love at first sight!

(Firstly and a half.. this is destined to be a long post)

Secondly.. TIME GOES BY SO FAST!! I'm almost 19, I don't live with my parents, I work full time, go to school part time (starting next week), pay WAY too much rent for my apartment.. AND TOMORROW'S MAY!! My littlest brother (cute little Tan the Man) IS GETTING BAPTIZED NEXT WEEKEND! WHAT?! Wasn't he just born? Mother's birthday is the same day as the baptism ( I won't mention her age :) ) and then Mother's Day on Sunday.

ALSO, another thing about time FLYING by! Back home in Washington, we had a missionary serving in our ward, Elder Hoskins (who is getting married now!!!) who kept insisting that I write his younger brother, who was on his mission in Chicago. He had just gone out a few months prior, and the "older" Hoskins was convinced that we would get married. Haha, crazy guy.. we hadn't even met! Anyways, I wrote him, and it went back and forth for several letters. Then one day, I started writing a letter, and completely forgot about it after that. About a month ago, I was looking through all of my boxes and such of random stuff that I never took the time to look at when I was moving, and guess what I found?! An unfinished letter from December 2007 to Kameron Hoskins. CRAZY! I went through and re-read his letters, and realized that he comes home from his mission in May of 2009. THAT'S NEXT MONTH!! So I decided to write him a letter, letting him know that I didn't fall off the face of the earth, and just to catch him up on a few things. One week went by, and I knew the letter hadn't gotten to him, and if it had, he didn't have time to write back that fast. 2 weeks.. well, it takes time. 3 weeks? Maybe he already went home? Got a different address? Or just didn't want to write back?! Yesterday, sisty comes in the room saying I got a letter. I, thinking it was from Jonathan, said "Already?! Letter day isn't till tomorrow!" Kay: "No.. from Hoskins!" WHAT?! He DID get it!! Anyways, there wasn't much to the letter, just him saying that he's coming home on May 15th, will be moving down to Provo in the fall with a bunch of his friends (Weird.. so am I), and will go to UVU (as I will be too..). It's so weird to think that he's been gone 2 years, and it's time for him to come home.

ANDDD.. Happy Birthday Cameron Divis! He's 19 today! Cameron recently got called to serve in Paraguay!! and will be leaving in June? July? How exciting!! #5 of my guy friends from Washington to leave on his mission!

Yet another thing, I'm obsessed with creating! (or wanting to create, I should say). I went to a craft night last night, put on by sweet Nichole (one of American Crafts designers), letting us use anything and everything in her scrapbook collection to make whatever we wanted! Plus, I got to take home a box of scraps, and not so "scrap"s because she needed to get rid of them! What a perfect way to satisfy my crave to get as many scrapbooking materials I could to start making pages and creating!! And, here is my promise to you, I WILL start painting again (inspired by Nichole's amazing painting skills)!!



Side note, this is what I started at Craft Night last night.. I'll blog what it looks like when it's finished!



Lastly, this is for my Mother! Lately I keep remembering back to a year and a half ago or so, and I was sitting downstairs just WAITING for you to get off the computer so I could check whatever website was popular at the time. Your response was "Shaylin, you're going to be waiting a long time! I have to update my blog! This is really important, and whatever you need to do can wait! Just get on tomorrow, you need to go to bed." Hahaha!! Mother, I now understand your desire to blog! I mean, look at mine! I blog every other day, at least! And scrapbooking.. Your dream is finally coming true. I'M DOING IT! And we can scrap together when I come home NEXT WEEKEND!!! Love you Mom!

Bruce got an owie!

Kaylee's beloved car, Bruce, got HIT YESTERDAY!! And since she doesn't blog, I took on the responsibility of letting the blog world know about it!

Here's the story as Kay tells it:

So, here I am, minding my own business, driving back from target all excited about the new work out shorts I bought, jamming out to some sweet tunes, when all of a sudden….BAM! Bruce (my car) and I do a little spin out after getting smashed into!
What the crap was this lady thinking?! Did she not feel like looking when pulling onto the road!? So I straightened my car out and pulled over. When the lady got out of her large (brand new) SUV…I noticed she was VERY pregnant. My anger went away immediately. We checked out the damage while she was telling me she thinks she is in labor and was on her way to the hospital!
Needless to say, we didn’t wait for the cops to show up. We swapped information and I told her to get to the hospital! She also had about 3 other kids with her, one screaming in the background! Poor prego..

She admitted to all the fault and her insurance will take care of the damage. However, I need to do something about the rear wheel well so I can drive it again for the time being until I can get it in to be fixed.

Update on prego..she did not have her baby last night! She will continue as planned with being induced this coming saturday.. which may also cause a little delay in getting my car fixed...


So there you have it! Bruce got his first boo boo! Kaylee's doing fine, she didn't get hurt (not that she knows of yet anyways)

By the way, the name of her car was inspired by the shark from Finding Nemo (:

ALSO!! DANG GOOD NEWS!! In the end of August, I’M MOVING DOWN TO PROVO WITH 7 OF MY FAVORITE GIRLS!!!!! We’re going to The Branbury, and it sounds like it’s going to be a ton of fun!!

There will be 4 girls per apartment, so in one of them, there will be Courtney, Whitney, Kaylee and myself, and the second apartment will be Lindsey, Holly, Carly and Jori. ALSO, Lizette, Courtney Dahl, and Amanda (maybe Sharsti) will be moving there too so my friends will be so close to me! I couldn’t be more excited! Now I just have to be patient for 4 more months!!!
